INDOOR AIR

Create a calm, cleaner-air room.

Filtration and source control first, followed by practical visual, sound and routine choices.

Cleaner air, official instructions and appropriate medical care come first. These routines support comfort and preparation. They do not make smoke exposure safe or remove PM2.5 from the body.

CADR SIZING HELPER

Estimate a minimum tobacco-smoke CADR.

EPA uses a tobacco-smoke CADR of at least two-thirds of room area in square feet as one sizing method for wildfire smoke.

Enter room length and width.A 10 × 12 foot room is 120 square feet and needs a tobacco-smoke CADR of at least 80 cfm.

AFTER FILTRATION

Add visual and auditory calm without adding pollution.

  • Use soft, indirect lighting when it helps the household settle.
  • Use low-volume familiar music, spoken audio or quiet activities.
  • Avoid fragrance as the primary calming tool during respiratory stress.
  • Essential-oil diffusion is not a default smoke-season recommendation.
